Visit of Adviser for Commerce and Investment H.E. Abdul Razak Dawood to Uzbekistan for the 1st Meeting of Pakistan- Uzbekistan Joint Working Group on Trade and Economic Affairs on 31 January-03 February 2021

Adviser for Commerce and Investment H.E. Abdul Razak Dawood visited Republic of Uzbekistan on 31 January-03 February 2021. The Adviser was accompanied by senior government officers from different Ministries.
During his visit, Adviser called on President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 01 February 2021. During the meeting, the Adviser conveyed warm greetings from our leadership and exchanged views on bilateral economic relations and connectivity projects including the Pakistan-Afghanistan- Uzbekistan railway line project.
 
Adviser Abdul Razak Dawood and Deputy Prime Minister Sardor Umurzakov jointly co-chaired the 1st Meeting of Pakistan- Uzbekistan Joint Working Group on Trade and Economic Affairs on 01 February 2021. During the meeting, the sides reviewed the entire gamut of trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
 
In order to give further impetus to bilateral relations, it was agreed to hold the 6th session of Joint Ministerial Commission at Tashkent during first half of 2021 and constitute the Joint Business Council, at the earliest possible.
The Adviser also led Pakistan delegation at High-Level Tripartite Working Group on the implementation of “Mazar-i-Sharif – Kabul – Peshawar” Trans-Afghan Railway Construction Project. Deputy Prime Minister Umurzakov and Afghan Foreign Minister Mr. Hanif Atmar represented Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, respectively. While highlighting the importance of connectivity and Pakistan’s resolve to forge closer ties with Uzbekistan and wider Central Asian region, Adviser Dawood welcomed the Uzbekistan’s initiative to build the railway line and conveyed Pakistan’s full support for the project. He also highlighted the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of connectivity to establish regional corridors.
 
In response to the invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Uzbek President has agreed to visit Pakistan soon after the pandemic is over. The two brotherly countries of Pakistan and Uzbekistan are working together to forge a strong multifaceted relationship.
