Investiture Ceremony of Dr. Mukhayyo Abdurakhmonova

 

Investiture ceremony in the honour of Professor Dr. Mukhayyo Abdurakhmonova was held in the Embassy of Pakistan, Tashkent, today. Ambassador Ahmed Farooq conferred ‘Tamgha i Imtiaz’ (Medal of Distinction) upon her on behalf of the President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. 

Professor Dr. Mukhayyo Abdurakhmonova has been teaching Urdu for about 37 years and is currently, an Associate Professor at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. Her works include translation of Babur’s poetry from ancient Uzbek into Urdu, a textbook on Urdu lexicology, translation of selected Ghazals of Mirza Ghalib in Uzbek language and numerous research articles on Urdu poetry and its technical aspects. The prestigious Civil Award ‘Tamgha i Imtiaz’ has been conferred upon Dr. Mukhayyo Abdurakhmonova in recognition of her notable work in the field of Urdu language and promoting it in Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by leading academicians, representatives of the Foreign Office, media personnel and former teachers of Urdu Language in Uzbekistan. The investiture ceremony was followed by a reception.
