Inauguration Ceremony of ‘Gosha-e-Urdu Banam Allama Muhammad Iqbal’ at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies

The Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies (TSUOS), in collaboration with the Embassy of Pakistan in Tashkent, inaugurated the ‘Gosha-e-Urdu Banam Allama Muhammad Iqbal’, a Smart Learning Urdu Centre, established with state-of-the-art equipment gifted by the Embassy of Pakistan. The inauguration ceremony was attended by faculty members, students, scholars, and distinguished guests.

The Smart Learning Urdu Center is equipped with advanced adaptive technology, interactive smart displays, speech recognition software, live manuscript and writing features, and digital Urdu calligraphy tools. The facility also includes side-by-side translation capability, distance learning support, lecture recording systems, and smart quiz functions. These features are designed to significantly enhance Urdu language instruction, support interpreter training, promote research collaboration, and encourage innovative academic discussions and projects, while providing an enabling academic environment for both students and faculty.

The ceremony commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Gulchehra Rikhsieva, Rector of TSUOS, who expressed her sincere gratitude to the Embassy of Pakistan for its continued cooperation and generous support. She described the inauguration of the Center as the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between TSUOS and the Embassy, noting that the initiative would further strengthen institutional ties and facilitate closer academic linkages with Pakistani professors and scholars. She emphasized that the Center would serve as a valuable asset not only for students of Urdu but for the broader academic community.

Addressing the audience, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Farooq, Ambassador of Pakistan to Uzbekistan, highlighted that the project was implemented as part of the Roadmap signed between TSUOS and the Embassy of Pakistan. He underscored the symbolic importance of naming the Center after Allama Muhammad Iqbal, whose writings remain a source of knowledge, guidance, and intellectual illumination. The Ambassador expressed confidence that the Center would inspire young students and serve as a beacon of learning, much like Iqbal’s philosophy continues to guide generations. He reiterated that Iqbal’s message of self-awareness, purposeful effort, harmony, and service to humanity transcends borders and remains universally relevant.

The ceremony featured a live demonstration of the Center’s smart technology through an interactive quiz on the life of Allama Iqbal, effectively showcasing the operational capabilities of the newly installed equipment. A student presentation followed, offering a scholarly perspective on the concept of effort and activism in Iqbal’s poetry, reflecting the intellectual depth the Center aims to cultivate.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Mukhayo Abdurahmanova, who appreciated the Embassy’s continued support and reaffirmed TSUOS’s commitment to further strengthening academic cooperation. The ceremony ended with a group photograph commemorating the successful inauguration.
