Flag Hoisting Ceremony at the Embassy of Pakistan, Tashkent on National Day

A solemn flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Tashkent to mark the 23 March Pakistan Day.

On this occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan to Uzbekistan, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Farooq, hoisted the national flag to the tune of the national anthem. Messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, delivered on the occasion of Pakistan Day, were read out to the audience.

In his message, President Asif Ali Zardari highlighted that Pakistan Day serves as a reminder that unity and solidarity are essential to transforming national resolve into reality. He paid tribute to the courage of the Pakistani people in confronting challenges and emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law, strengthen democratic institutions, reduce inequality, empower women, and promote political and economic stability. The President also underscored the importance of eliminating terrorism and extremism.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, described 23rd March as a defining milestone in the history of South Asia. He reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to global peace, while emphasizing that sustainable peace in South Asia is linked to the just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The Prime Minister also expressed solidarity with the people of Palestine and voiced concern over tensions in the Middle East. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to responsible and balanced diplomacy focused on regional stability, dialogue, and mutual respect.

In his remarks, Ambassador Ahmed Farooq paid profound tribute to the founding fathers of Pakistan whose vision and sacrifices led to the creation of an independent homeland. Highlighting the historic significance of the Day, the Ambassador underscored Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, emphasizing the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive engagement among nations. He echoed the national leadership’s focus on balanced and active diplomacy aimed at fostering stability and cooperation in the region.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of members of the Pakistani community residing in Uzbekistan, making it a dignified and reflective gathering.
