Pakistan Railways is a state owned enterprise with a total count of 560 stations electrified. Following Imran Khan vision of Clean and Green Pakistan, Pakistan Railways has embarked on the journey to solarize its Railway stations on BOT (build-operate-transfer) basis. In the first step Pakistan Railways has initiated solarisation of 181 Railway Stations.
Under this process, solarisation of Railway Stations will be carried out by private parties within a period of one year and the contract for the operation and maintenance of solar systems will be required for ten years. The tender notice has been published in local newspapers, uploaded on PPRA website www.ppra.org.pk and Railway website www.pakrail.gov.pk. Foreign investors may participate through local JV partners. Tender will be finalized in Pak Rupees.
