9th Session of Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan

9th Session of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation was held on 4 November 2024 in Tashkent. The Session was co-chaired by the Minister of Commerce of Pakistan, Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, and the Minister of Industry, Investment & Trade of Uzbekistan, Mr. Laziz Kudratov.

The comprehensive dialogue between Pakistan and Uzbekistan encompassed trade, investment, and strategic partnerships, focusing on key areas such as banking, industries and production, textile, energy, transportation and communication, agriculture, and tourism and connectivity.

The 9th IGC session concluded with the signing of the Final Protocol of the meeting and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in E-commerce. The MoU on E-commerce is expected to unlock new avenues for trade and technological collaboration between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan complement each other as both serve as the gateway to their respective regions. The two nations have made substantial progress in trade and economic cooperation, with a billion-dollar trade agreement signed during the last session of the IGC.

The 9th session of the IGC will further solidify the relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, building upon the progress made in previous Sessions. The commission’s outcomes will have a profound impact on the economic landscape of both countries, paving the way for sustainable development, innovation, and prosperity.
